Roomware projects

Many of the projects and solutions developed by ƒoresee™ have in fact been put into practice. As a taster of the huge spectrum of possibilities available, we would like to present a small selection of such projects. High quality reality presentations
EURODOMUS (Italy) is a project developer, which in early 2005 tendered for the conversion of a prime area in Rome. Working in collaboration with the Hamburg-based Bothe-Richter-Teherani architectural office (BRT), EURODOMUS developed a unique building concept, which was to enjoy the best possible presentation to investors and the city of Rome. ƒoresee™, and its software partner MACINA, developed an interactive application for InterWall which investors found to be most persuasive. On the InterWall, Investors were able to interactively experience the modular design of the apartments. The application as developed was able to take the rather dry facts of the business plan and turn them into a flexible, interesting and professional presentation. The interactive application developed by ƒoresee™ emphasised and underpinned the comprehensive skills and professionalism of EURODOMUS.

Innovative, sustainable sales
Who would even think of buying a car without seeing it first? Without getting a feeling for the upholstery, the carpets and the paintwork. But in the case of apartments and yachts often individual and high-priced prestige objects, there is often no such opportunity. This was the starting point for ƒoresee™ to develop a solution which makes it easier for prospective customers to picture their future asset. The InteracTable enables customers to discuss details with the sales manager and at the same time select and change, for example, the colour of the floor covering of their yacht, or the upholstery fabric, and so put together their own bespoke yacht or apartment. This concept does not stop here, it can be further developed. Materials like wood can be identified using RFID chips. As soon as a sample with the chip is placed on the InteracTable, the surface is rendered according to the sample. A particular fascination is the immediacy of the change, the high degree of visual clarity and the inclusion of the customer.

The intuitive interface of the InteracTable is persuasively implemented in this showroom application.

InterWall solutions
There now follows a number of examples, which illustrate how ƒoresee™ takes the InterWall and cleverly integrates it into various environments, potentiating these environments by its very presence in a very innovative way. For example Regus in London will be the first provider of serviced business spaces to install specially equipped conference centres. The first centre of this type will be set up in London's Victoria Street and equipped with an InterWall to enliven smaller conferences with interactive presentations. One of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies has made the InterWall a central component of its in-house seminar room. This product means sales staff can learn their trade in an innovative way, taking lasting impressions away with them. EURODOMUS, on the other hand, uses the InterWall mainly as a centre of attraction at fairs and for in-house property presentations. InterWall can do more, it is ideal for straightforward solutions as well. For example visitors in the reception area of T-Systems' new office building in Darmstadt (architect: Lengfeld Willisch) will in the future be welcomed by an InterWall, permanently integrated in the reception counter.

Realising a very special solution
One of our largest projects was realised in June at the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD). At the OECD in Paris a conference room was equipped with a Wilkhahn desk system featuring 40 NoTable® Lights. As a result, conference attendees can visualise complex processes with great ease and modify them together to expedite decisions.

InteracTable in the Kronprinzenpalais, Berlin
Roomware has also been opened to the general public. As one of the highlights of Einstein Year 2005, the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, acting for the German government, is presenting the "Albert Einstein – Engineer of the Universe" exhibition. The exhibition is based on a concept developed by the Berlin Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science. A pleasing decision for ƒoresee™ was the inclusion of an InteracTable as part of the exhibition where it obviously impressed many visitors. Following the closure of the exhibition, the InteracTable will be used by the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft.

Interactive location marketing
A very complex technical solution, capable of presenting a location as a whole using the multimedia facilities of the InteracTable and InterWall was developed for Hanover city as a part of its presence at the CeBIT fair. It is becoming ever more important for cities and regions to market themselves. In collaboration with MACINA interactive media, ƒoresee™ developed a web-based application for InteracTable and InterWall, which impressively presented the property search process in toto. The virtual Interactive Business Location Centre (IBLC) gives users the option of gathering comprehensive information about the location from the internet prior to visiting Hannover. Interested parties have the opportunity of filing all relevant information, for example data about the workforce market, soil values, infrastructure and special mapping materials, into specific personal folders from which they can be accessed at a later date. Users can also direct specific questions within the real IBLC InteracTable and/or InterWall environment to those responsible in the city/region in a flexible manner without pre-set formats.

IBLC offers a full spectrum of options for impressive location presentations.

Remote-seminars - international teamwork at ETH Zurich
The Institute for Building Technology at the Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) in Zurich wished to quickly evolve a practical scenario into a location independent cooperative platform. ƒoresee™ was able to realise this scenario. By taking part in an interactive distance seminar, architecture students at ETH Zurich and the Technical University of Brunswick were able to join together in planning, drafting and preparing buildings. The InteracTable allowed architect teams to work concurrently on a layout, with immediate implementation of changes irrespective of whether they originated in Brunswick or Zurich. This form of cooperation created a high level of efficiency in the preparation of plans and an optimised channel for work coordination. Each change could be discussed and also directly incorporated.
The InteracTable not only supported distance cooperation between the teams, it also promoted interactive team collaboration at the individual locations, resulting in improved team dynamics with higher levels of motivation for all concerned: all had access to the plans in progress and the ability to make direct changes using stylus or finger.
ETH has taken the logical step of making this successful concept accessible to external parties. In Castasegna, at the foot of Switzerland's largest chestnut orchard, the restored Semper villa of Customs Master Garbald now houses a conference room in which Roomware components are installed. This equipment affords visitors the facilities to concentrate and work together innovatively on new concepts – without distractions in quiet, picturesque surroundings.

ƒoresee™ has also had the privilege of realising other projects including for example at the BBC and McKinsey in London, Al Bunduquia in Saudi Arabia, the International Business School in Brussels and Philip Morris in Lausanne.
